Guinea - New Mediator

On February 9, 2018, the President of the Republic of Guinea Professor Alpha CONDÉ proceeded to the appointment of Mr. Mohamed Said FOFANA as Mediator of the Republic to replace General Facinè TOURE at the end of his mandate.

Mohamed Said Fofana (born 1952) was the Prime Minister of Guinea from 2010 to 2015. He was appointed by President Alpha Condé on December 24, 2010. His previous role as director of economic research at the commerce ministry.

After Condé won a second term in the October 2015 presidential election, Fofana resigned as Prime Minister on 23 December 2015, and Condé appointed Mamady Youla to replace him on 26 December.

2008-2009: National Director of Foreign Trade and Competitiveness
2009: Director of the Project Management Coordination and Monitoring Service of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and SMEs

His other professional references includes : President of the National Committee for International Trade Negotiations (WTO, EPA with the EU etc.), Vice-Chairman of the Customs Tariff Reform Committee; Member of the Board of Directors of the Port of Conakry, Rapporteur of the Interministerial Commission on the Stability of the Exchange Rate and Internal Prices, Chairman of the technical committee of support to the inter-ministerial commission in charge of the problematic, of the food supply of the populations, Several consulting missions for USAID, UNIDO, ITC and UNCTAD, Participation in several trade negotiations, international conferences, forum, meetings of experts etc. (ECA, UNCTAD, ITC, WTO, ECOWAS, IDB, Chamber of Commerce etc.)

Thus, Mohamed Said FOFANA will occupy the head of this institution for the next seven (7) years (2018-2025).
